When we began to dream up our Valentine’s Day plans, we knew we had to include the one and only Theo Chocolate, located right here in Seattle, Washington.  As a local institution for chocolate, Theo has been a part of Deathcake Royale for 10 years now.

Theo Chocolate was the first organic and Fair- Trade chocolate factory in the country! Their founding principle is that the finest artisan chocolate in the world can (and should) be produced in an entirely ethical, sustainable fashion. They believe it all starts with the bean, and where the bean is cultivated.  All of the ingredients are carefully screened and third-party verified to ensure that they meet Theo’s standards for social and environmental responsibility.  This summer, our team took a tour of  Theo’s factory and learned SO much from their expert employees.  While there are many choices in the world of chocolate, our opportunity to partner with Theo falls directly in line with our values of “doing the right thing”. 

We use Theo’s 45% milk chocolate every year as part of the milk chocolate in our chocolate ganache, which is layered between our sea-salted decadence and Stumptown chocolate cake.  Deathcake is deliciously lethal, and we attribute that to using the highest quality chocolate.

In addition to using creamy Theo chocolate in our Deathcake. we have also created a mouth-watering Malted-Milk Chocolate cupcake as one delicious member of our brand new Chocolatier Collection.  We take our delectable vanilla cupcake, add in some milk chocolate chunks, swirl it with a nutty, malty, salty buttercream, and top with a crispy house-made malt-ball meringue topping! #whoa.  Yup, this is really happening, with  a lot of help from our pals at Theo Chocolate!
