Oh fall, how we love you and the festive flavors you bring with you. This is the time of year when all the warm spices come out of the pantry and pumpkin is king. In honor of National Pumpkin Day let’s talk about one of our Fall staples. Yes, that’s right, we’re looking at you Pumpkin Cardamom!


It all starts with our signature pumpkin spice cake. We pre-ordered our fresh, local pumpkin puree months ago from Stahlbush Island Farms to prepare for production. The flavor is unbelievable! It’s so moist, SUPER pumpkin-y, and lightly spiced.  This recipe has been perfected over the years and has been used for our Pumpkin Maple and Pumpkin Cheesecake Crunch cupcakes.


With our trusty pumpkin spice cupcake base it is time to talk about the frosting. I think we can all say that pumpkin and cream cheese are a match made in heaven. For years we have been taking our cream cheese frosting recipe and adding Cardamom to it for the perfect touch of fall flavor mouth experience. What exactly is Cardamom you ask? Well, it is a spice that has its origins in India and has been used medicinally and in cooking for centuries. Cardamom has a very strong flavor and pairs well with clove, cinnamon, and allspice to name a few. It is also one of the few spices that works in either sweet or savory cooking. The warm aromatics of Cardamom make it the perfect addition to our cream cheese frosting to sit atop the pumpkin cupcake.
